With Fairfield County’s first snowfall of the year expected tonight, winter is officially here! Levco encourages our customers of a few things to continue to ensure their heating oil deliveries and any required emergency service is made in a safe and timely manner.
Clear your driveway
For the safety of our oil delivery driver and our service technicians, having your driveway shoveled within 24 hours of a significant snow storm allows for a safe place to park. It also reduces the likelihood of ice buildup that could potentially cause a fall. If an oil delivery driver feels it is unsafe to pull into your driveway, they will pass it by and try another day when the snow and ice has been removed.
Clearing walkways and path to the front door, garage, and your oil fill will reduce the chances of injury to a driver making a delivery or a service technician attempting to restore heat to your home.
Make sure the oil fill pipe is easy to find
Clear built up snow from the area around your oil fill pipe and vent pipe on the side of your house. If an oil driver cannot find the fill because it is covered with snow or ice, he will have no choice but to come back when it is clear, which means you will go longer until your next oil delivery. Not removing snow from around the fill pipe cap can cause it to freeze shut, possibly letting water into your oil tank and causing additional problems.
