Tip #8 – Use Caulk and Weather Stripping

Windows and doors aren’t the only spots where warm air leaks out of the house. Keep an eye out for places where two types of building materials meet — corners, chimneys, and around pipes and wires. Thoroughly check the interior and exterior of your home for cracks and gaps, paying particular attention to areas around chimneys, furnace flues, pipes, electrical outlets, windows, and doors. Fill small leaks with caulk and make sure weatherstripping around doors and windows is in good condition.
