Dirty furnace filters will restrict airflow and make the heating system work harder. This can increase your heating bills. Filters should be cleaned or replaced monthly during the cold season. Clean filters also make the air inside the home healthier to breathe which may mean lower medical bills too. The more efficient the filter, the more allergens and debris it catches, thus preventing these irritants from circulating in the air.
