Why Have an Air Conditioning Spring Check?

When You Partner With a Family-Run Company Like Levco, You Are Treated like Family.

Penny-Wise and Pound-Foolish

There’s nothing worse than turning on your air conditioner on the first hot day of summer and nothing happens… Tap tap… is this thing on? This is your opportunity to be the perfect girl or boy scout and “be prepared!”

As soon as Spring rolls in, schedule your Air Conditioning Spring Check. You not only get on your HVAC company’s schedule before they get busy with emergency service calls, but you also allow ample time to identify and prevent small problems from becoming more expensive repairs later on. #winning!

Did you know?

Air conditioning equipment becomes less efficient as it ages, especially if you don’t care for it properly. But who has time to even think about that stuff? Bear with me because this is the important part. When parts of your equipment start to build up dust, dirt or grime, the entire system has to work harder using more energy to create the comfortable environment we want when the temperature rises into the 80’s and 90’s.

That’s why I always say, spend a little to save a lot – and I’m not just talking about saving money. You’ll save yourself hours of discomfort and frustration waiting for a system repair or replacement when you could have been trying out those 20 different margarita recipes you found at the bottom of this page. (You’re welcome).

Getting to the point.

Be proactive and invite your local certified HVAC technician to your home to check the major components of your air conditioning system.

Thermostats should be checked and calibrated accurately to ensure the system keeps you comfortable at the temperature you prefer. And if you’re ready for an upgrade, check out the Nest Learning Thermostat!

Electrical Connections should be tightened and the voltage and current measured on all motors. Faulty electrical connections can cause the system to operate unsafely and reduce the efficiency and the life of major components.

Inspecting the Condensate Drain helps prevent a clog, which can cause water damage in the house and affect indoor humidity levels.

Checking the Equipment Controls ensures the system is operating properly and safely. Your technician should make sure the system starts, operates and shuts off properly.

Cleaning the Evaporator and Condenser Coils is very important because dirty coils can reduce the system’s ability to cool your home, increase energy costs and reduce the life of the equipment.

Your A/C’s Refrigerant Level should be checked and adjusted if necessary. Too much or too little refrigerant will make your system less efficient, increasing energy costs and reducing the life of the equipment.

Blower Components should be cleaned to provide proper system airflow for optimum comfort levels. Airflow problems will reduce your system’s efficiency.

Changing or Cleaning Air Filters (depending on the type your system uses) can be done by the homeowner but can also be done by the technician during a spring check-up. Some systems recommend changing or cleaning the filters at least once a month. If you don’t already know how to change your filters, your technician can show you during your spring check-up. A dirty air filter can increase energy costs and lead to additional damage to your equipment.

Here’s the bottom line __________________________

When your system works as the manufacturer recommends, it uses less energy to cool your home. And lower energy use means bigger savings for you on your monthly utility bills.

If you wait until the heat of the summer to find out your Air Conditioning isn’t working properly, not only are you inconvenienced by an emergency service call, but you may have done additional damage to your equipment. So beat the heat and contact Levco to schedule your Air Conditioning Spring Check and one of our knowledgeable, friendly, qualified technicians will be glad to help!

As promised, here are 20 different margarita recipes to try 😉
